Industrial Surveillance Setup with IP Cameras at Pratistha Industries

objective:

PratistHa Industries, a manufacturing company with expansive operations and multiple functional zones, sought to establish a surveillance system that would support security, monitor production areas, and reduce operational risks. The company required IP CCTV cameras to be installed across key sections such as entry points, factory floors, warehouses, loading bays, administrative areas, and parking lots. Brihaspathi Technologies was assigned the project to install 125 IP cameras to meet these surveillance requirements.

Challenges :

  1. 1 Vast Industrial Layout:The large area of the industrial premises required precise planning to avoid surveillance gaps and minimize unnecessary overlap.
  2. 2 Harsh Environmental Conditions:Certain areas within the factory, including outdoor zones and high-heat sections, demanded cameras that could withstand dust, temperature shifts, and vibration.
  3. 3 Data Handling and Storage:Recording from 125 cameras required a reliable system for managing large volumes of video data without system slowdown or frame loss.
  4. 4 Network Infrastructure Planning:The existing network setup had to be evaluated and upgraded to accommodate the bandwidth load generated by the IP cameras.

Solutions :

  1. 1 Zoned Camera Layout:
A camera deployment plan was created by dividing the facility into zones—administration, production, logistics, external perimeter, and staff areas—to place the cameras for optimal coverage.
  2. 2 Durable IP Cameras for Varied Conditions:
Weatherproof and dust-resistant cameras were used for outdoor and heavy-duty zones, while standard IP domes were installed in office areas.
  3. 3 High-Capacity NVR Setup:
Network Video Recorders with terabyte-level storage were used to record and archive footage with remote access capabilities for security staff.
  4. 4 PoE Network Integration:
Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches and Cat6 cabling were used to supply both data and power to the cameras, simplifying installation and reducing wiring complexity.
  5. 5 Staggered Installation Plan:
Work was conducted during off-shift hours in stages, so operations could continue while installations were completed section by section.

RESULTS:

Full Facility Surveillance Achieved:
- All 125 cameras were successfully installed across the site, covering every key operational and security-sensitive area.

Improved Activity Monitoring:
- Management and security teams could now review footage to track movement of personnel, monitor process adherence, and address safety issues more quickly.

Reduced Incidents and Losses:
- The visibility of surveillance helped reduce theft, unauthorized access, and workplace violations.

Easy Retrieval and Review of Footage:
- Incidents could be investigated using archived footage without delays, aiding internal reviews and audit processes.
